I had such fun knitting hats for sailors last year that I decided to participate in the Hats for Sailors project again this year. I love knitting hats, actually. They knit up fast and use very little yarn. And, ahem, I may have coerced my mom into knitting a sailor hat. And she may have just finished her hat yesterday. And it may look awesome. 🙂

Here are my two hats:

Pattern: Botanic Hat by Stephen West
Yarn: Cascade 220 Superwash in navy and puget sound (less than one ball each)
Needles: US size 5 and 6
Notes: I’ve been eying the Botanic Hat by Stephen West for a while and decided to try it. I recommend this pattern- really fun and the hat turned out so cute! I knit the version with the fold up brim. I’m calling this hat the Pégate Más hat because I am obsessed with this song by Dyland y Lenny and listened to it constantly while knitting. Yes I am crazy, thanks!

So knitting hats is like eating potato chips; I couldn’t make just one.

Pattern: My own design
Yarn: Cascade 220 Superwash in navy (less than one ball)
Needles: US size 5 and 6
Notes: I’m calling this the Yandel hat after my favorite reggaeton duo, Wisin y Yandel. I sense a reggaeton theme going on here. The next hat I design will be called Wisin…

The photos of the Yandel hat were taken pre-blocking. It’s currently blocking to even out the stitches. I’m really happy with my hats, and I hope they make two sailors happy, too!
