Loom

Today Cheryl and I went to Loom Exquisite Textiles in the Strip district. This is the coolest fabric store. Seriously, they carry the cutest, wackiest, most colorful fabrics I’ve ever seen. Prints of owls, Cat in the Hat, shirtless men in Santa hats, maps of Paris, rockets, squirrels (which I successfully did not buy), garden gnomes, wood grain, and comic strip characters, plus some low key stuff, too. You name it, they probably have it. And the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Their fabrics are a bit more pricey than at a big box store, but hey, you can’t buy these kinds of awesome fabrics at a big box store. After about 2 hours of browsing, these lovely prints found a new home. It looks like I was really into the pinks and oranges…

Cheryl bought some gorgeous Amy Butler laminated cotton to upholster her dining room chairs.

In addition to the sewing projects I want to make, and to add to my flurry of holiday knitting, I’ve decided it’s about time I knit something for my boss. She knows I’m a knitter and would probably appreciate something handmade. So after a long and arduous search through the billions of patterns in the great and powerful Ravelry, I narrowed it down to this scarf by Drops. I’ll be using this beautiful baby alpaca yarn from Wool and the Gang. It truly is the softest yarn I have ever used.

I’ve got enough projects to keep me busy for a long while…
