Did you know that the music from the movie The Creature from the Black Lagoon was written by Henry Mancini? Not only is The Creature a fantastic movie, but the background music is top notch. Why am I telling you this? Because Thanksgiving is few weeks away which means, (cue trumpets) da da daaaaaaaaa… Creature – feature! Can you tell I’m excited? Oh yeah, the rest of Thanksgiving is good, too. Like pie.
So I neglected to blog about a project I completed this summer. I knit a shawl for my aunt as a thank you present for letting us spend our vacation with her on Cape Cod. It turned out lovely! I call it my Ojos Que No Ven shawl named after the song by Alexis y Fido. It’s inevitable, all my projects have some reggaeton tie-in. 😉
Pattern: Feathers fichu by Elena ArsUna. Free Ravelry pattern
Yarn: Manos del Uruguay Serena in colorway 9796 Mermaid (60% Alpaca, 40% Cotton)
Needles: size 2 US (size 5 for cast on edge)
Notes: The pattern didn’t contain gauge info so I swatched with size 2 needles and liked the drape of the fabric. I modified the pattern by casting on only 305 sts, and it turned out to be about 55″ straight across from tip to tip at the widest point. The colors in this yarn were amazing and my yarn choice worked out beautifully in this project. I highly recommend this shawl pattern and this yarn.
