I thought my blue alpaca mitten #1 was finished (apart from sewing in ends and blocking), but then I decided the cuff should be longer so I’ll be adding length to it. The cuff was made by picking up the provisional cast on from the hand and knitting a mock cable instead of ribbing. Excuse the map placemat, I was sitting at the dinner table when Markus took this photo. Why yes, I do have every state capital memorized!
The mitten in progress is for Markus. I found the free pattern through Ravelry.
Pattern: Mittens No. 211 (creative name, huh?) 🙂
Yarn: Kraemer Yarns Alpaca DK
Needles: Size 3 US
My gauge: 5.75 st = 1″
I’m enjoying working with this yarn. It has more vegetable matter in it than I would have expected, but I don’t mind picking out pieces of hay every so often. Makes it plain that this yarn came from a real alpaca as opposed to… umm, a fake alpaca? Anyway, I think these will be super warm!
And accordion news: I’ve been practicing “Hysteria” by Def Leppard and I’ve made some progress. I’m originally a flute player and never had to read bass clef, so reading 2 lines of music at once is a bit of a challenge. But I, Susan, will do it.
