I decided this holiday season to make something for everyone who works at my favorite coffee place, just to let them know how much they are appreciated.
Three of the coffee cozies were knit from a pattern I found through Ravelry. I felted them at Lisa’s house in her top loading washer. Meh, I’m not crazy about them, but they’ll work. I designed the other knit coffee cozy myself with mock cables. The yarn is Gedifra Volata Tweed, 100% wool. I like it so much I may knit another in a different colorway.
I made the last 2 with store bought felt, fabric scraps and buttons. Easy as pie to make, too! Just make sure to save the cardboard coffee holder that comes with the cup. Trace it onto the felt, cut it out and embellish to your hearts desire. I used the machine for the zigzag stitching, then overlapped the edges and stitched it shut by hand. I was hoping to make more today but my sewing machine was giving me sass so I gave it a time out.
Yes, I realize it might be a tad silly to make coffee cozies for someone who works at Starbucks, but it’s the thought that counts, right?
