Here’s a plug for an upcoming fiber related charity event in the Pittsburgh area. It’s called the Three Yarntini Luncheon, organized by the Three Rivers Crochet group, and all luncheon proceeds will benefit Rwanda Knits (www.rwandaknits.org) and the Pittsburgh Women’s Shelter (www.wcspittsburgh.org). The luncheon is being held on Saturday, February 14th, 11:30a – 1:30p, in conjunction with the Pittsburgh Knit and Crochet Festival (www.pghknitandcrochet.com). You don’t have to attend the festival to attend the luncheon, although you do need to register for the luncheon in advance using the festival registration form.
The luncheon is a sit-down meal (hence the pre-registration) of Pecan Crusted Salmon, Chicken Asiago, Roast Top Sirloin of Beef, or Broccoli Cheddar Quiche. There will be a fashion show just like the one at the Yarn Ball, so wear your handknit and/or crocheted goodies to show off. Robyn Chachula, crochet fashion designer and author of Blueprint Crochet, will be the MC for the fashion show, and will be showing items from her books and pattern lines, as well as signing her books. There will also be door prizes from Caron, Southwest Trading Company, and Dark Horse Yarns, along with raffles to win a knitting machine, hooks/needles, books, etc…
If you’re interested in attending, you need to register by February 6th.
Embossed Leaves Socks Update:
I finished one sock and I’m about 2/3 finished with the leg on sock #2. These are so fun to knit! And I haven’t gotten to a break in the yarn yet, though I know it’ll happen at some point. I’m just hoping I can get through most of the sock before the breaks start appearing. I hate sewing in ends.
