Last night a bunch of us fiber addicts from the Wed night SnB group, the Saturday Three Rivers Crochet group, and the Sunday iKnit group got together at Lisa’s house for the first annual Cookie Exchange.
The idea came from my Mom who has a cookie exchange with her co-workers at The Container Store every year. The idea is simple. Everyone makes 5 dozen cookies to exchange (or a set amount depending on how many people RSVP), and you leave with the same number of cookies you brought, just in a wide variety. We also gave out printed recipes with our cookies, which is great because now I can make some of Carrie’s delicious Orange Kiss Cookies.
There were 13 of us, and surprisingly there were no duplicate cookie recipes! I brought some French Madeleines, which I think turned out pretty good. I was really amazed by some of the creative recipes my friends made. Here’s what I took home:
Lisa served glühwein (mulled wine) to go with some delicious appetizers. The recipe for glühwein is simple. Just heat up some dry red wine, sugar, slices of orange, whole cloves and cinnamon sticks.
We also played a yarn swap game. Beth hit the jackpot with a huge bag of Lion Brand Wool. And Shrimpy was content just to sit in the pile of wrapping paper all evening. Why do cats do that?
I also got some really nice presents. Some jam from Anita. Look where it’s from!
And the Pièce de résistance, a Knitty mug from Lisa! Pretty fitting, I’d say. And cute, too! Thanks!
I cast my vote for a 2nd annual cookie exchange in 2009.
