On Friday I came home to find the latest issue of Knitcircus waiting for me (issue #4). WOW, I am so impressed with this publication! First of all, this is a relatively new magazine, but the quality is outstanding. It looks truly professional. Plus, there are some amazing patterns in issue #4, most notably, the sweater vest on the cover called Kelebek Vest by Elizabeth Morrison. I’m also queuing the Morrocan Lace Socks, which I think will look great using my new KPPPM sock yarn purchase from the Patternworks store in NH.
One Christmas a few years back, my mom gave me a knitting needle case she made for tall, straight needles. I filled it lightning quick, so she made me another for circular needles. It is such a handy case to have that I thought it would be nice to make one for my friend Dulcie based on my mom’s design. I picked out the cat and yarn fabric from a quilting store in Lincoln Square Mall in Urbana (this is back when I lived in IL), and not having a sewing machine, I sewed the original needle case by HAND. Turned out quite nice for my first go. I wonder if she still uses it?
The design in Knitcircus is actually much different than the original I made for Dulcie years ago. As you can see, there are many modifications you can make, and the cases are super quick to sew up. So (shameless plug) pick up the latest issue of Knitcircus and make one for the knitter in your life! She/he will surely appreciate it!
