My entry has been submitted to Elinor’s Socks Revived contest. Je vous prĂ©sente Florizel.
I was inspired by a roll of paper towels in the psychology department kitchen that had the cutest flower motif embossed into each sheet. I set to work charting the design, and after many (many!) iterations and multiple swatches, I came up with a version of the motif I liked best. The pattern calls for Pagewood Farm Denali hand dyed sock yarn, which is currently my favorite sock yarn to work with. I used Teal and Orange Spice. But if those colors don’t suit your fancy, how about one of these colorways? (BTW, I use Gimp for all my photo editing.)
Hmmm, I quite like the purple sock with yellow flowers…
These leg is worked in stranded knitting using a size 1.5 US needle. When you finish the flower chart, the rest of the sock is knit on size 1 US needles. Since stranded knitting can be quite inelastic, I went up a needle size when working the chart to ensure the sock would fit over my heel. Knit Picks created a helpful tutorial on color knitting which explains the ins and outs of color knitting techniques. I also embroidered a flower onto the top of the foot using duplicate stitch.
The pattern is written in 3 sizes so it will fit a range of feet. The pattern is currently for sale in my Ravelry store, however you need not be a member of Ravelry to purchase it. But odds are that if you’re reading my blog you’re already a member. If not, what’s stopping you?
Enjoy!

I love these!!!
