Yesterday morning I spent a few hours outside prepping my yarn for my Knitty project. I took the yarn out of the freezer, brought it outside, shook it vigorously to dislodge any little stowaways and then put it on “Charlotte”. Charlotte is a really great swift. If you’re handy with tools or you know someone who is (and you don’t mind the PVC aisle at Home Depot), I really suggest you make one yourself. Charlotte is easy to use and breaks down easily for flat storage under the bed. That’s where she used to be stored, but I think I’ll leave her out permanently in the living room. She certainly makes a great conversation piece! The PVC swift tutorial by Beata can be found here. Now back to my story.

Eco wool is 478 glorious yards of yarn. That makes for one gigantic ball of yarn, unless you’re me and had 3 hanks to prep. That’s a lot of winding. The first hank had only one knot in it, so I ended up with 2 center pull balls.

I was able to finally start knitting with it later on in the day, and I think the project is turning out nicely so far. I’ve been knitting like crazy because a) I want to finish well before the deadline, and b) I’m just so curious to see how it’ll turn out! My hands are really feeling it though! I better be careful…
